Please click here for more on Bedswervers and Dilettantes. Thanks so much for all the presaves and adding The Morning After to your play lists and shares on Spotify, Apple Music etc, it's working a treat!
I might be new to this solo artist world however, as my journey continues, why not join me? Send me a message and join the mailing list so I can tell you all about the next destination. Exciting times ahead, that's for sure!
Made in Barcelona, living in Sheffield. Self-taught guitarist and bass player, classically trained in Pianoforte and Violoncello, I decided to learn to record and write music whilst in Lockdown 1. I did it for fun and to stop myself going mad, and as I couldn't get anybody to sing I ended up doing that too.
With much support and encouragement from friends, I decided to put my recordings out. I'm nine singles in so far, and the new album in March. All have been received well, especially the 2022/23 releases which all gained very positive press at home in the UK and internationally. My music has been played on Radio Stations all around the planet, from the BBC Introducing MixTape on 6Music, National Radio in Spain (Disco Grande) to Australia, Latin America, Canadian and American College Radio as well as loads of UK and European Stations. It's been an awesome experience, very humbling and has kept me sane-ish in these crazy times!
Tom Robinson (6Music, FreshOnTheNet, BBC Introducing) 'Ruiz has motoring energy and laconic vocals.'
Crispin Hunt: (Longpigs; British Academy of Songwriters) ’These recordings are great! Hints of The The in there…’
John Perry: (NME, The Guardian, Uncut, Loaded) ‘…that Killing Joke, Psychedelic Furs, NIN, early Sisters/late Depeche Mode thing it’s got going on. It’s a really distinctive sound I haven’t heard anywhere else!’
Philip Oakey (The Human League and splendid chap): ‘Really good stuff!’
Arlo: (Pint-Sized Punk Zine) ‘He sent us some stuff to listen to and it’s actually really good!’
There are loads more reviews, and there are now many, on my bio-reviews page too.
My first single, Morning, dropped late 2020. In 2021 Blue Mediterranean came out, followed by my first album Mind Games which is available via this website on CD, as well as all good on-line outlets.
2022 was an incredible year. I had a single featured on the BBC Introducing Mix-tape and was played on BBC 6Music amongst many Radio Stations in the UK and abroad. All four singles I released last year were heavily streamed on Spotify and YouTube, thanks to you guys for sharing and adding me to your Playlists, you've been amazing. The reviews also left me feeling very humbled and blessed. As I've said many times over the last three years, I had no idea I had any songs in me, let alone songs others would like and share. In March of 2023 Love Is Blind came out and did well on the ol' streaming platforms. Stupid Old Git followed in its footsteps, and then my first Christmas release, The Morning After came out on the 8th of December. Album #2 is now dropping on the 8th of March, from which the opening track, The Boss was played by Steve Lamacq on his Drive Time Radio Show on BBC 6Music. Cheers Lammo!
Make sure to view my videos, add me to your Playlists and spread the word!
